FINDING YOUR VISUAL VOICE

Through the art curriculum I periodically introduce students to a variety of well-known artistic styles. I start the lesson by saying that they may not like them, but I ask that they try to create art that is inspired by the new style. In this way, each student gets a wider feel for a variety of mediums and approaches to making art. Each exercise they enjoy will add to their visual vocabulary and each exercise that is frustrating they can set aside, and say “oh well, I tried”.
