NIGHT 1: HANGING WOOD SIGNS

Working with pre-cut pieces of wood, we chose meaningful sayings, and then spent the evening choosing different fonts and paints and glitter, putting together the wood signs.

NIGHT 2: LIGHTWEIGHT MOSAIC ART

Using Creative Exploring Lightweight mosaics, we created mosaic art that looked authentically stone…. but just wasn’t! Easy to cut & shape, easy to paste, no mess.

NIGHT 3: TEXTURE PLATE METAL TOOLING

Working with metal involves tracing images, and adding depth and texture.

NIGHT 4: 3D PAPER ART SHADOW BOXES

Using a strong and multi-layered image, color cut and rebuild it to emphasize the important aspects of the art and make a multi-dimensional object with shadow layers.

NIGHT 5: MAGAZINE COLLAGE ART

Take an everyday object, left-over magazines, and putting on your ‘artist glasses’ tear out textures and colors that you will use to create your new canvas image.

NIGHT 6: DRAWING WITH YARN

Although sewing is usually used to connect fabric, it is an art form of its own. Treat the needle and thread as a multi-colored mark and use it to draw your image on a fabric base.

NIGHT 7: WOOD & NAILS

Using a hammer and nails, map out your design. Using a variety of wire and yarn, add shapes, color and texture to complete the artwork.

NIGHT 8: LINO CUT & INK STAMPING

A stamp can be used as many times as you want. Stamping itself is an artwork. Envisaging your artwork in terms of positive space [white] and negative space [black] is a brain-twister. But working slowly, everything falls into place at the end.

NIGHT 9: POP ART EXPRESSION/ SCREEN-PRINTING

Andy Warhol created the flat screen-printing aesthetic. It is now a standard “filter effect” on smart phones and graphics programs everywhere. Except he did it in the 60’s. By hand. Cut out, stamp and reconstruct. Make everyday objects into artwork.

NIGHT 10: PAPER CUTS

Learning to use a craft knife is part of this project. Learning to stretch your patience is another step towards a great final result.
